#NERV Disaster Prevention App to Run Ads Before Evangelion 3.0+1.0 in Theaters

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time

For people inside Japan, the NERV Twitter account and app are an indispensable resource and immensely helpful in getting up-to-date information in both Japanese and English. While the account started out as a pseudo-parody of the fictional organization that caused two Impacts, the real-life version has become the biggest disaster helpline in Japan, but that doesn’t mean that everyone knows about it just yet.

To rectify that and to spread the message of disaster preparedness, the Special Agency NERV Disaster Prevention app will be running its 15-second advertisement in front of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time in theaters across Japan. The advert, which is narrated by Koichi Yamadera, a Miyagi prefecture native and voice of Ryoji Kaji in the Evangelion franchise, will be screened in every open theater in the Tohoku region prefectures of Miyagi, Fukushima, and Iwate. These areas are regularly affected by earthquakes, including the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and just last month, the 2021 Fukushima Prefecture Offshore 7.3 magnitude. The advert will also screen in select theaters in the metro areas of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

The smartphone application is currently only available in Japanese, but the service has an English Twitter account with up-to-date information in plain English, so anyone planning to head to Japan, or living in Japan should follow just in case.

After two COVID-19 delays, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time will finally be released in Japanese theaters on March 8.
