Anime and video game composer Hidekazu Tanaka has been arrested on charges of attempted indecent assault. Tanaka is suspected of having made indecent remarks towards an underage girl and forcibly pulling her arm earlier this August, NHK reported.

According to NHK, police said that the incident took place in August at a bicycle parking lot near a station in Tokyo’s Meguro Ward while the victim, who is between 10-19 years of age, was returning home. Testimony revealed that Tanaka had apparently followed the girl on the train after seeing her and thinking that she was his “type.”

The victim was led to a dark section of the parking lot, but managed to resist Tanaka and make her way to a nearby police box unharmed. 

Tanaka was arrested on October 24 after the police found footage taken by the station’s security cameras that appeared to show a girl being followed.

Tanaka was part of the music composition group MONACA from 2010 until 2021. He was the music composer for The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls anime and contributed compositions to shows like Working!! and Aikatsu!, as well as games like The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls and Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
