#Japanese Singer Gen Hoshino Is Watching Kyoto Animation Anime as Inspiration for Next Song

Gen Hoshino watching Tamako Market

Anime fans have known for a long time now that Kyoto Animation and the studio staff have this special ability to create anime that make you feel warm inside, well now those warm feelings of love have caught the eye of Japanese singer Gen Hoshino, who is using some of the studio’s more romantic anime as inspiration for his next love song.

Hoshino, who provided the voice of the father in Mamoru Hosoda‘s Mirai, and was the lead male in Masaaki Yuasa‘s Night is Short, Walk on Girl, appeared on the YouTube show Wasyagana TV on Friday and discussed his upcoming single with voice actor Yuichi Nakamura and Mafia Kajita. Hoshino explained that he’d watch an episode of Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Tamako Market (and its sequel film Tamako Love Story), and then write more of his song.

The discussion starts around 1:45 in the video

The trio all agreed that Kyoani are the masters of capturing the feeling of “kyun,” which describes the feeling of making your heart skipping a beat. Yuichi Nakamura should understand this better than most, being the voice of the lead male character Hotaro Oreki in Hyouka

Gen Hoshino recently made headlines when news broke of him marrying his The Full-Time Wife Escapist co-sat (and fictional wife) Yui Aragaki, who apparently isn’t serving as inspiration for his upcoming love song.
