#2nd Teaser Trailer Released for Witch on the Holy Night Anime Movie

Two years after its announcement, the upcoming ufotable-produced Witch on the Holy Night anime movie adaptation has received a second teaser trailer.

Many details about the movie remain unknown, but the new teaser previews the main heroines’ character designs, as well as co-female protagonist Aoko Aozaki’s combat might.

Witch on the Holy Night (Mahoutsukai no Yoru) is based on the visual novel by Type-Moon, which was first released for PC in Japan back in 2012. A fully voiced, full HD version was released for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in December 2022, and later on Steam on December 14, 2023.

Steam describes the game’s premise as:

In the mansion on the hill, there lived two witches…

It is the late 1980s—the twilight of an era of beauty and vigor.
A boy moves to the city, barely missing two witches living in modern times.

The boy leads a completely ordinary life.
She carries herself with gallant pride.
The girl lives a sleepy, hidden life.

Each walks a starlit path.
One would never expect their paths to cross.
The story of how these three disparate people came together is soon to be told.

Witch on the Holy Night is the latest Type-Moon visual novel to receive an anime after titles like Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime. Aoko has previously appeared in Tsukihime and other Type-Moon-related titles like the Carnival Phantasm anime parody and the Fate/EXTRA video game. Her sister, Touko Aozaki, is one of the main characters of The Garden of Sinners light novel series, which has been adapted into a series of anime films. 

The visual novel’s cast includes Haruka Tomatsu as Aoko, Kana Hanazawa as Alice Kuonji, Yuusuke Kobayashi as Sojuro Shizuki, and Ruriko Aoki as Touko.
