A new The Quintessential Quintuplets anime, titled The Quintessential Quintuplets*, has been announced as one of the adaptation’s fifth anniversary projects. It will depict Futaro Uesugi’s honeymoon trip with the Nakano sisters.

The story will be based on a draft by The Quintessential Quintuplets creator Negi Haruba and has his complete supervision as well.

Also part of the fifth anniversary plans are:

• A key animation exhibition
• An event at Yokohama Arena
• The streaming release of the “Kimi datta kara” song, a Best Album, and the streaming release of a Futaro character song, “Iroasenai Kimochi
• A new light novel supervised by Haruba

The previous The Quintessential Quintuplets anime include two TV anime seasons (2019 and 2021), an anime movie (2022), and a two-part TV anime special titled The Quintessential Quintuplets~ (2023). The shows are based on Haruba’s Kodansha-published manga, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2017 and ended in 2020 with 14 tankoubon volumes. Kodansha USA describes the premise as:

Five girls who want to do anything but study, and their tutor: a high school boy who’s got book smarts and not much else. Futaro Uesugi took the tutoring gig because he was desperate for cash, but when his students—the five beautiful daughters of a wealthy businessman—find five times the excuses to slack off, what can he do?! At this rate, the sisters won’t graduate, so if he wants to get paid, Futaro must think of a plan to suit each of them … Which feels hopeless when five out of five of them think he’s a loser!

The first season was directed by Satoshi Kuwabara at Tezuka Productions, while the second season was directed by Kaori at Bibury Animation Studios. The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie was also a Bibury production, but was directed by Masato Jinbo. The Quintessential Quintuplets~  was produced by Shaft and directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto.

Keiichirou Oochi was the series composer for all the previous TV anime and wrote the scripts for most of the episodes and the movie. Michinosuke Nakamura was the first season’s character designer, and thereafter credited with character design cooperation. The succeeding character designers were Masato Katsumata and Kazuya Shiotsuki (The Quintessential Quintuplets~ only).
