#VTuber Pekora Look-Alike to Be Removed From How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω Episode 2

How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω

It seems the doppelgänger of Hololive VTuber Usada Pekora in episode two of How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω is no more. Last night, the production committee for Demon Lord posted a statement to Twitter confirming the resemblance between Pekora and the “Ashen Pekora” and had that they had spoken to COVER Corp, the parent company of Hololive, on their next steps.

Two weeks ago, keen viewers of How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω and fans of the VTuber Pekora noticed a very familiar-looking bunny in the background of an establishing shot of a new town. Going to Twitter to express their surprise, this quickly gained the attention of the manic rabbit herself who Tweeted about it and talked about it on stream, saying that it obviously wasn’t her, but maybe a sub-species. The look-alike was quickly dubbed “Ashen Pekora” due to the hair color. Pekora also mentioned she is available for any anime work, even if it’s her just saying “Peko!”

Relevant excerpt:

“In response to your comments, we immediately confirmed the facts of the production process and reported the situation to the management company of Hololive, COVER Corp, and consulted with them regarding how to proceed with the situation.

COVER Corp understood the situation, and as a result of discussions, we will continue to make corrections to the animation going forward, as well as replace the character in question with a new one for rebroadcasts and other uses in the future.”

It seems that “Ashen Pekora” is no more and is being removed on all versions of the scene in future releases. It’s common for anime studios to go back and polish up some of the animation for a Blu-ray release, so it seems like this has just been put onto the task list for the future releases of the episode.

COVER Corp’s Twitter account retweeted the statement for the Demon Lord Twitter account. The production committee expressed their “sincere gratitude” to COVER Corp for their understanding and apologized to both COVER Corp and fans for any concern this may have caused.

How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω is streaming on Crunchyroll as the series airs in Japan every Thursday.
