#The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Unveils “Hanami” Seasonal Key Visual
A special Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) visual for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten TV anime series has been unveiled, commemorating the upcoming spring season in Japan.
The new visual highlights main characters Amane Fujimiya and Mahiru Shiina walking under the blossoming sakura trees.
The first season of the TV anime series aired from January 7, 2023 to March 25, 2023. A second season has been confirmed, but no further details were revealed on its premiere date.
Kenichi Imaizumi (Kingdom Season 3, After School Dice Club) was initially announced as director, but was later listed as a supervisor while Lihua Wang/Reika Ou was credited as the show’s director. Imaizumi was also involved with each episode’s storyboards.
Other staff included Keiichirou Oochi (Girlfriend, Girlfriend) as series screenwriter, Takayuki Noguchi (Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway) as character designer, and Moe Hyuga (If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die) as music composer. Project No.9 was the animation production company for the anime.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast is headlined by:
- • Taito Ban as Amane Fujimiya
- • Manaka Iwami as Mahiru Shiina
- • Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa
- • Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa
The anime is based on the original light novel series, written by Saekisan and illustrated by Hanekoto, starting from the second volume onwards. It was first published on June 15, 2019 under SB Creative’s GA Bunko imprint. Eight physical volumes and a short story collection have been released as of January 2023, with a ninth volume due out on March 15, 2024. Yen Press releases the light novel series in English under its Yen On imprint.
A manga adaptation by Wan Shibata was launched in Square Enix’s Manga UP! app and website on January 6, 2022. Three tankoubon volumes have been released as of December 2023. Square Enix Manga & Books licensed the manga for release in English.

Mahiru is a beautiful girl whose classmates all call her an “angel.” Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades—she’s also drop-dead gorgeous. Amane, an average guy and self-admitted slob, has never thought much of the divine beauty, despite attending the same school.
Everything changes, however, when he happens to see Mahiru sitting alone in a park during a rainstorm. Thus begins the strange relationship between this incredibly unlikely pair!
