#Violet Evergarden Movie’s First 10 Minutes Released On YouTube

Kyoto Animation has released the first ten minutes of the new Violet Evergarden sequel movie on YouTube.

The uploaded footage, featuring KyoAni’s gorgeous craftsmanship, features a new character called Daisy Magnolia. She is the granddaughter of Ann, who fans may remember as a child and, eventually, young woman, from the Violet Evergarden series’ powerfully touching 10th episode. Ann has passed away, and Daisy stumbles upon the letters that the eponymous protagonist Violet penned to Ann, in her role as an Auto Memory Doll, on behalf of the latter’s sickly mother.

Violet Evergarden: The Movie’s main plot will be set decades before these ten minutes. Anime News Network describes the synopsis:

After working as an Auto Memory Doll, Violet Evergarden has come to learn the meaning of the words “I love you.” Her soul, which has been deeply scarred by the war, has begun to heal. She continues to move forward in life, helping others in need, while keeping the words of the first person who ever said “I love you” to her close to her heart. When she takes on a job to write a letter for a terminally-ill boy, time starts to move forward.

The movie premiered in Japan on September 18 after two delays. As ANN reported, it was moved from January 10 to April 24 after the tragic arson attack on KyoAni’s Studio 1 in July 2019. It was then delayed again due to COVID-19.

A spin-off movie titled Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll was released in September 2019 in Japan. The story followed Violet as she tutors a noble family’s daughter at a prestigious academy. Both the spin-off movie and the series are available on Netflix.
