President Trump on Wednesday said Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is less “sharp” mentally than a nonagenarian World War II veteran.

Trump, speaking in North Carolina on the 75th anniversary of World War II ending, cited Hershel “Woody” Williams as an example of how advanced age doesn’t always result in senility.

“I promised him I would not tell that he’s 97 years old, I promised. I’ll tell you, he’s 100 percent sharp. He’s 100 percent sharp. I know a 78-year-old that’s not so sharp, but he’s 97, and he’s 100 percent, because has nothing to do with that — 78 is young. Depends who’s 78, that’s all,” Trump said.

Williams, a survivor of Iwo Jima and one of the last living Medal of Honor recipients from the war, turns 97 in October.

Trump, 74, spoke in Wilmington, North Carolina, to designate the port as the country’s first “World War II heritage city.”

The president spoke shortly after Biden gave a rare press conference in Wilmington, Delaware, in which he repeatedly stumbled with his delivery.

Trump hastened his outdoor speech due to an advancing thunderstorm, but also slammed violent protests following the May killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police.

He singled out the Democratic mayor of Portland, Ore., Ted Wheeler, who announced this week that he’s moving homes after his condo building was attacked by “anti-fascist” activists this week.

“American warriors did not defeat fascism and oppression overseas only to watch our freedoms be trampled by violent mobs here at home,” Trump said. “We stop those violent mobs very easily. All they have to do is say, ‘Please come in. Mr. President.’ We’ll have it done in one hour.

“As you know, Portland, the mayor last night, he was raided — his home was raided, he was thrown out of his home, and then he’ll stand up and they’ll fight for these people. These people only know one thing and that’s strength. That’s all they know, strength, and we have strength.”

Footage of Wheeler’s building shows smashed-in windows, a picnic table on fire and fireworks launched at building windows. Activists held a large banner that said “Resign” and someone spray-painted “Ted is the feds.”

Trump defended his own management of protests, which Biden attacked as adding fuel to the fire. Trump said he effectively discouraged the toppling of statues by threatening lengthy prison terms.

“We must teach our children that America is a land of heroes like you,” Trump said. “We’re not ashamed in America, we’re not ashamed of anything.”
