Too Many Losing Heroines! Announced

The losing heroines of Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! are set to return with the anime’s newly announced second season.
The first season premiered in Japan on July 13 JST (effectively July 14 at 12:30 AM JST) and was streamed on Crunchyroll, Bilibili, and iQIYI. The romantic comedy anime is based on the Gagaga Bunko light novel series written by Takibi Amamori and illustrated by Imigimuru, which began in July 2021 and has seven main volumes and a short story anthology as of July 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the plot as:
Plain, boring, and friendless Nukumizu Kazuhiko has witnessed something completely baffling: popular girl Yanami Anna was friend-zoned by her childhood friend and crush! In fact, all the popular girls around him are getting similarly rejected by the boys they like. Without realizing it, Kazuhiko becomes entangled in the relationship drama where all the leading heroines are losing out on love! Can he keep their spirits up and help them find happiness?
Anime Trending contributor Gracie Qu walked away from the first season pleased, calling it “a good reminder that sometimes the stories with the most heart actually comes from genres you don’t expect” in her review. While I could only muster the energy to review the first episode (I liked it, as well as the rest of the series), I ended up highlighting all three of Makeine‘s standout ending animations as the season progressed.
The Makeine light novel series, which has a manga adaptation by Itachi, was the Gagaga Award winner at the 15th Shougakukan Light Novel Taisho. More recently, it ranked first in some This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2025 categories, including the general category. (Makeine‘s Anna Yanami lost to The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten‘s Mahiru Shiina in the female character category, placing second.)
