#Angels vs. Rockies prediction: Andrew Heaney will stop Colorado

September 13, 2020 | 11:01am

Throughout his career, Los Angeles Angels lefty Andrew Heaney has had a tough time keeping the ball in the yard. But he has been much better at limiting the hard contact in 2020 and will look to keep it going in the Mile High City on Sunday.

Heaney has allowed just three home runs across 49 innings and nine starts this season, a far cry from his 1.5 home runs per nine innings career mark. Though the Colorado Rockies have MLB’s best home batting average, they rank just 14th in home runs per at-bat in Denver despite being at elevation.

The Rockies also have a team ERA at home that is the worst in the MLB at north of 7.00. Righty starter Ryan Castellani has a home ERA of 6.91 with opponents hitting .305 as opposed to a road ERA of 3.77 and .191 average.

The pitching struggles of the Rockies at Coors Field coupled with Heaney’s transformation in giving up fewer home runs should be enough to get Angels bettors to the window.

The play: Angels, -133.
