#The Girl from the Other Side Fantasy Anime Receives New Trailer

The upcoming full-length anime adaptation of fantasy manga The Girl from the Other Side has received a new trailer. The trailer offers a two-minute preview of the anime’s premise and visual style, as well as the voice performances of Jun Fukuyama and Rie Takahashi as Teacher and Shiva respectively.

The Kickstarter-crowdfunded anime is based on the manga by Nagabe, which ran from 2015 to 2021 and has 11 tankoubon volumes. The show will be bundled with a special volume of the manga that is set to be released on March 10, 2022. 

Kinokuniya describes the manga’s story as:

In a world split between the Inside and the Outside, those living in both realms are told never to cross over to the other side. A young girl named Shiva lives on the other side, in a vacant village with a demonic guardian known only as “Teacher.” Although the two are forbidden to touch, they seem to share a bond that transcends their appearances.

Yutaro Kubo and Satomi Maiya, who previously worked on a 2019 short anime film adaptation of The Girl from the Other Side, are the directors, scriptwriters, and character designers of the new OAV. Other staff include Bamboo’s Yuusuke Takeda (GREAT PRETENDER) as art director and Takeru Yokoi (Magical Girl Ore) as photography director. Club jazz trio Schroeder-Headz, who worked on the The Girl from the Other Side short film, is returning to compose the music. WIT STUDIO is in charge of the animation production.
