Shortly after the TEPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing ’til You Cry anime debuted, the second episode’s airing was replaced with a repeat of the first, but now we finally have a Japanese air date for it along with a new key visual. Episode 2 is set to make its rescheduled broadcast debut on ABEMA, TOKYO MX, BS Nippon Television and other networks in Japan on September 10.

Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing ’til You Cry is also looking to produce more episodes with some help from hometown tax donations. The show has hooked up with Minamishimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture to get the ball rolling, and once the goal is met they will produce a special episode set in Minamishimabara.

Based on the manga by Mugi Nama, Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (with 12 extra exclamation marks just for the anime), is being chief-directed by Shinji Takamatsu (Grand Blue Dreaming) and directed by Toshinori Watabe (Tokyo Ghoul:re) at studio Drive, with series composition by Jun Kumagai (Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju) and character designs by Yoshiyuki Okubo (LAST HOPE animation director).

Crunchyroll is simulcasting the anime as part of the Summer 2022 lineup. The story follows Yayoi Sakamoto, played by Ayasa Ito (Kaoruko in Revue Starlight), who reconnects with her childhood friend Yomogi Takahashi, played by Aimi (Nanako in Remake Our Life!), to reboot the “Konamonzu” comedy duo they played out as kids.
