#Tatsuhisa Suzuki Offers to Step Down From Ultraman Anime Role

The agency for Tatsuhisa Suzuki announced on Wednesday that the singer/voice actor would be taking a leave of absence from the public eye after an article from Bunshun Online claimed that he cheated on his wife, J-pop superstar LiSA. Today the official website for the Ultraman anime announced that Suzuki’s agency has offered that he resign from the series. 

In the Ultraman anime, which is streaming its first season on Netflix with another coming in 2021, Suzuki was set to voice Kotaro Higashi, who wears the Ultraman Taro suit, and making his debut in the second season. The character is the anime version of the popular Ultraman and human from the live-action series, who debuted in 1973 and has been seen in every series of Ultraman since then through either flashbacks or team-ups.

In a post on the Ultraman anime website, the staff said that they “will discuss the role of Kotaro Higashi” and “will report as soon as something is decided.”

Tatsuhisa Suzuki is also the frontman for the band OLDCODEX, performing under the stage name of Ta_2. OLDCODEX performed the opening and ending theme to the Netflix version of the series, with the ending theme being replaced for the Japanese TV broadcast.

The report from Bunshun Online claims that Suzuki has been cheating on LiSA with a female fan in her 20s who works at a recording studio, who posted images of Suzuki with another woman going into a hotel in Tokyo. Bunshun Online was also the first publication in Japan to break the story of the two’s impending marriage before it was officially announced.
