#Golden Kamuy Live-Action Movie Releases Trailer and Poster Visual

Following August’s teaser trailer and visual, TOHO has now released a full trailer and poster visual for the Golden Kamuy live-action movie adaptation, which premieres in Japanese screens on January 19, 2024. The new trailer explains the historical action-adventurer’s set-up and comes with more character and action footage, while the poster visual assembles the movie’s ensemble cast (plus bear).

The Shueisha-published Golden Kamuy manga that inspired the movie was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2014 to 2022 and is collected into 31 tankoubon volumes. An anime adaptation began in 2018, with a fifth season titled Golden Kamuy: The Final Chapter announced in June of this year.

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.
