“One Piece Film Red, Spy x Family are Anime of the Year at TAAF 2023”
The Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2023 has announced One Piece Film Red and Spy x Family as its Anime of the Year winners in the theatrical movie and TV series categories, respectively.
The Anime Fan Award went to the CG series Mechamoto, which is produced by Malaysian animation company Animonsta Studios.
As for the individual awards, the winners are:
• Original Work and Screenplay — Reiko Yoshida (Deaimon, Hula Fulla Dance)
• Director and episode/unit director — Gorou Takaguchi (One Piece Film Red)
• Animator — Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho 100 character designer, Inu-Oh co-chief animation director)
• Background, Compositing, and Visuals — Kouji Etou (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Entertainment District Arc art director)
• Sound and Performance — Ado (singing voice of Uta in One Piece Film Red)
The ultimate winners were decided by judges composed of parties from “the forefront of the anime industry,” including producers, creators, and stores involved in selling media and anime goods.
