#LeBron James’ next NBA flop could cost him

LeBron James could be paying for his next flop.

The Lakers star and teammate Kyle Kuzma were both given warnings for violating the NBA’s anti-flopping policy in Friday’s 115-105 win over the Grizzlies, the league announced Saturday.

James’ acting came with 2:33 left in the second quarter while he was under the rim battling for a rebound with the Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks and Grayson Allen. The four-time MVP suddenly flailed backwards, without much help from Brooks or Allen, and drew a foul, going to the line for two free-throws.

Kuzma followed suit in the fourth quarter while guarding Brooks with 6:31 left. Brooks drove to the rim and made some contact with Kuzma, but the Lakers forward went flying to the ground to no avail, as no foul was called.

Now that James and Kuzma have received their warnings, if they violate the anti-flopping policy again they would be subject to fines of $5,000, $10,000 and $30,000 for each flop that follows.

Celtics guard Marcus Smart was the last player to be fined for flopping, being tagged for $5,000 in September. In all, 31 flopping fines have been handed out — Lance Stephenson leads the way with four fines totaling $25,000 — since the league instituted the rule in 2012.
