#Komi Can’t Communicate Anime Adaptation Announced for October 2021

The official Twitter account for Komi Can’t Communicate announced the manga series will receive an anime adaptation in October 2021. 

OLM (Restaurant to Another World) is in charge of the animation production with Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea director) as chief director, Kazuki Kawagoe (Ikebukuro West Park episode director) as director, Deko Akao (The Detective Is Already Dead) as scriptwriter, and Atsuko Nakajima (Tokyo Ghoul:re character designer) as character designer. 

The main cast includes Aoi Koga (Kaguya Shinomiya from Kaguya: Love is War) as Shouko Komi, Gakuto Kajiwara (Shinra Kusakabe from Fire Force) as Hitohito Tadano, and Rie Murakawa (Ram from Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World) as Najimi Osana. 

The manga ranked eighth in the “Manga We Want to See Animated” rankings at AnimeJapan 2021, and was ranked first in the AnimeJapan 2020 version of the poll.

The manga series is written by Tomohito Ota and serialized in Shonen Sunday. Viz Media is publishing the manga series in English. Shogakukan Asia is publishing the manga in Southeast Asia. The series is described as: 

Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it. But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof—she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!
