#Funimation Announces Robotech Streaming and Home Video Launch

 

Funimation has formally announced release details on its previous acquisition of the Robotech franchise first announced all the way back in 2019. The release will consist of the original Robotech series in a brand new HD transfer on home video and streaming, as well as streaming releases of the continuation series. In addition, the media launch also includes the release of long-sought artbooks that were previously announced, but were not released until now.

 

 

According to Funimation the Robotech Collector’s Edition box set will include a brand new HD transfer of the original series that preserves the film grain of the original elements as well as a dual pack of Robotech action figures, including a variant of Roy Focker’s Transforming Robotech – VF-1S and Roy Fokker in Pilot Uniform along with four military-style 3′ patches, if you happen to be into patching jackets. Standard edition home video releases are also planned for Robotech: The Macross Saga on September 28, followed by The Masters on November 16 and The New Generation on December 14.

 

 

In terms of streaming availability, Robotech: The Series will stream in English dubbed format and will be the remastered version along with Robotech II: The Sentinels and Robotech the Shadow Chronicles in standard definition, beginning this Fall. Further details were also confirmed regarding the availability of the Robotech Visual Archives series of artbooks, which will be published by Udon Entertainment later this year, along with the future launch of licensed apparel through multiple retailers, such as Hot Topic and specialist anime apparel retailer Atsuko.

 

 

Finally, Funimation also confirmed that the remastered version of the Robotech: Macross Saga video game that was originally released for the Game Boy Advance nearly 20 years ago is now available for the Nintendo Switch. The game, seen above in a screen shot is an upgraded HD port of the original game.
