#NYC church shooter had gasoline, knives, bible

A chilling image shows the full can of gasoline, knives — and worn bible — that police say the St. John the Divine Cathedral gunman brought with him when he opened fire outside the Harlem church on Sunday.

The disturbing photo released by the NYPD includes other items — including several spools of rope, duct tape, wire and a red beanie and gloves — found in a duffel bag believed to belong to the suspect near the scene of the afternoon mayhem.

“I think we can all surmise the ill intentions of the proceeds of this bag,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press briefing. 

Cops and witnesses say the 52-year-old man, with a gun in each hand, fired from the top step of the landmark cathedral just after a Christmas concert — sending bystanders cowering for cover.

“He started shouting, ‘Kill me! Kill me!’ and shooting at the big metal door in the center [of the church],” a witness told The Post.

Three hero officers confronted the shooter, firing some 15 rounds at him, Shea said.

The suspect was struck at least once in the head during the shootout and pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Police also released an image of the two semi-automatic handguns, one silver and one black, that the suspect used.

A dozen people called 911 from the scene saying shots were fired, the NYPD said.

Other images, from a Reuters photographer, showed officers cautiously approaching the area, some crouching behind garbage pails.

Cops did not immediately identify the shooter.
