The diamonds weren’t forever.

Though Jamaal Bowman’s campaign to unseat 16-term Congressman Eliot Engel in Tuesday’s primary has been gaining steam, he’s been less lucky with love, court records show.

In April 2003, when his relationship with fiancee Toyami Als went south, Bowman initiated legal proceedings in Brooklyn Civil Court to compel her to return a $5,800 engagement ring.

The case went nowhere and was resolved out of court.

“Jamaal and Toyami were engaged at the time they broke up, around 2003. They had a young child together. As you can imagine it was an incredibly sad and difficult time for both of them,” a person familiar with the matter told The Post. “They have been co-parenting their son for the last 17 years. He is now in college.”

Bowman later married a different woman, Melissa Oppenheimer, and today lives in Yonkers with his wife three children.

And he did patch things up with Als, a city school teacher who donated $500 to her ex’s campaign.

“Jamaal is a great man and father and I love him dearly, which is why I’ve supported his campaign from the very beginning,” she told The Post.

Als kept the ring.
