#Weekly Shonen Jump Cancels Act-Age Manga After Author’s Arrest

Weekly Shonen Jump announced that the Act-Age manga will be discontinued following the arrest of its author, Tatsuya Matsuki.

An English statement on MangaPlus said that the chapter that will be published in the combined 36 & 37 issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump will be the manga’s last.

“The editorial department takes this situation very seriously, and after confirming the matter and discussing it with Shiro Usazaki Sensei, the artist for the series, we have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to continue with its serialization,” read the statement.

The statement also said:

“It is extremely unfortunate to have to end a series that has received so much support from so many readers in this way. However, this decision was made because of the nature of the incident, and because Weekly Shonen Jump recognizes the weight of its social responsibility.

We offer our deepest regrets and apologies to our readers. This is a difficult time for Usazaki Sensei, but the editorial department offers Usazaki Sensei our support and encouragement for future works.”

Act-Age’s author, Matsuki Tatsuya, was arrested on 8 August on suspicion of committing indecent acts on two female middle school students. According to NHK, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police said that Tatsuya confirmed his guilt by telling police that there was “generally” no mistake regarding their investigation.
