#Cops bust creep accused of stabbing woman at NYC subway station

A man wanted for stabbing a stranger as she stood at a MetroCard kiosk in an Upper West Side subway station was arrested Tuesday when cops recognized him, the NYPD said on Twitter.

The 40-year-old victim was at the 1/2/3 station at 72nd Street and Broadway just before noon Thursday when her attacker exited through a turnstile, came up behind her and stabbed her in the right shoulder, cops said.

Shamel James, 40, was busted around 1 p.m. and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.

“This suspect was apprehended today by eagle-eyed officers from (Transit) District 1 who spotted this suspect while on patrol in Manhattan,” the NYPD said in its tweet.

Police earlier released terrifying video that shows the moment before the attack. The suspect, who is wearing a blue shirt and bright yellow shorts, can be seen lunging with the knife.

There were no words before the attack, and the man fled the station, cops said.

The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai West for treatment.
