If you’ve ever wanted to look after your own personal Droid, soon you will have the opportunity, because BANDAI and Lucasfilm are teaming up to release a Star Wars-themed R2-D2 Tamagotchi toy that lets players raise the brave little robot as a digital pet.

The R2-D2 Tamagotchi comes in two varieties: Classic color ver. and Holographic ver. The toy allows you to maintain your R2-D2 by charging it up and cleaning its chasis. There are also 9 mini-games for training your R2-D2 unit, which can develop 19 different skills, including special skills (such as holographic projector mode, fire extinguisher mode, and flight mode) and pilot mode skills for different starships.

Additionally, the R2-D2 Tamagotchi toys feature cameo appearances by 14 other popular Star Wars characters, including Yoda, Boba Fett, and C-3PO.

The R2-D2 Tamagotchi toys are currently available for pre-order via the official BANDAI home page, with both versions of the toy retailing for 2530 yen (about $23.22 US) including tax. The final products are scheduled to begin shipping on November 13, 2021.
