#Anti-vax protesters storm vacated BBC headquarters

Anti-vaccination protesters apparently targeting the British Broadcasting Corporation stormed a London building the broadcaster moved out of eight years ago, a report said.

Dozens of protesters converged Monday on the Television Centre – once the BBC’s headquarters but now mostly home to luxury apartments and rented studio space for commercial broadcasting channel ITV.

The protesters chanted “shame on you” and clashed with police as they launched a siege on the building, with material and comments indicating they planned to target a major BBC building, according to The Guardian.

Some vaccine skeptics have picked BBC News as a favorite target, accusing it of pushing the COVID-19 vaccine, the newspaper stated.

Also, the political editor of one of the BBC’s news programs was targeted earlier this year by people angry over coronavirus lockdown restrictions, The Washington Post said.

But during Monday’s siege, protesters only managed to disrupt a live broadcast of ITV’s “The Loose Women,” according to the Post.

The British Broadcasting Corporation reportedly vacated the building in 2013.

Charlene White, who stars on the woman’s roundtable program, later thanked London’s Metropolitan Police and security.

“Not sure what protestors were hoping to achieve, but all they would’ve found was me, Jane, Nadia and Penny on @loosewomen talking about the menopause,” White tweeted along with a shrugging emoji.

Media personality Andrew Neil also trolled the protesters in a tweet.

“Anti-vaxxers protest BBC coverage of pandemic by storming a building in White City,” he wrote. “A building the BBC vacated in 2013 and is now luxury flats. Is there a link between stupidity and anti-vax? Opinions vary but evidence is growing …

Some protesters later went on to another BBC building 5 miles away, the Guardian stated.
