The Chinese donghua adaptation of the A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized has received a new trailer for its upcoming Japanese dub release. More dub actors were also revealed.

Joining Aoi Yuuki (Reiko) and Houchuu Ootsuka (Herbivorous Dragon) are Yoshino Nanjou as Ryatt, Mariko Miyase as Aliante, and Shuka Saito as Water Saint.

A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized originally ran from July to October this year and is available on Crunchyroll and Bilibili (the latter was involved in the show’s production). Siwen Liu (Dawang Bu Gaoxing) directed the donghua with Wan Zi as character designer and LAN STUDIO as the animation production company. The donghua is based on the light novel series written by Kaisei Enomoto and illustrated by Shugao, which is published under Kadokawa’s Sneaker Bunko label.

Crunchyroll describes the plot as:

Desperate to defend her village from the demon king, Reiko offers herself to a 5,000-year-old dragon for his help in exchange, but the flame-breathing beast is vegetarian and a total weakling. Together they embark on a journey to take down the demon king. With her dragon comrade, Reiko claims that she’s his disciple, able to draw from his infinite powers, but is it really from him?

The A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized light novels began in 2018 and ended in 2019 with three volumes. The series has inspired a Square Enix-published manga adaptation by Kouichi Muro that released its fifth and final tankoubon volume in 2020. The story started off as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel in 2017.
