50 Cent is one of the most decorated rappers of the 21st century. While his chart-dominating days are long behind him, the Queens legend enjoys looking back on some of the accolades he collected throughout his career. On Wednesday (March 3), 50 reflected on the robust sales numbers of his first two solo albums Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and The Massacre.

“Everybody loves Diamonds over 13 million records sold not bad for a first album,” 50 wrote of monstrous 2003 debut album.

50 celebrated Get Rich or Die Tryin’s 18th birthday in February. The critically-acclaimed debut is one of the Top 10 best-selling Hip Hop albums of all-time and is currently 9x-certified platinum, according to the RIAA, with the latest certification coming in February 2020. It’s only a matter of time before the album goes diamond, which only eight rap albums have achieved.

“Second [diamond] this not bad for a kid from South Side,” 50 captioned a separate post highlighting 2005’s The Massacre.

Powered by hits such as “Candy Shop,” “Disco Inferno” and “Just a Lil Bit,” The Massacre enjoyed the second-largest opening week sales for a Hip Hop album ever with 1.15 million copies sold, which fell just short of Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP.

As of 2015, 50’s sophomore album has sold more than five million albums in the U.S. and over 11 million worldwide. The Massacre is currently 6x-platinum, according to the RIAA.

With the coronavirus pandemic raging on, Texas governor Greg Abbott announced starting on March 10 the state’s businesses could operate at 100 percent capacity and would be repealing their mask mandate. For those in the area, 50 might be making his way down to the Lone Star State.

“I’m headed to Texas fuck this,” he wrote on Tuesday (March 2).
