Seaside Heights police called for assistance from surrounding departments to help manage the surge of maskless fans that descended on the community, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Police Chief Thomas Boyd said a “couple thousand” people were on hand for the event as cops performed “crowd control,” adding that as of 8:30 p.m. the situation remained under control.
The Canadian trio — Jesse Sebastiani, Kyle Forgeard and Steve Deleonardis, who are known for posting prank videos — posted on social media that the event coincided with the launch of their new basketball and baseball jerseys, according to NJ.com.
Last week, YouTube temporarily “demonetized” the Nelk Boys after they allegedly threw parties at Illinois State University, creating a “public health risk,” according to BuzzFeed.
The group has 5.7 million followers on YouTube, 3.6 million on Instagram and 381,000 on Twitter.
On Monday night, they posted videos showing the visitor count on their website — upward of 130,000 — increase with each “drop.”
