#Yen Audio Announces Audiobook Adaptation of My Happy Marriage

Yen Audio has announced an upcoming audiobook adaptation of the historical romance fantasy light novel series My Happy Marriage. The audiobook adaptation’s main voice cast will be announced later on Yen Press’s social media pages, and the audiobook itself will be released sometime in November 2024.

The original light novel series is written by Akumi Agitogi with illustrations by Tsukiho Tsukioka and was first published by Fujimi Shobo on January 15, 2019. Eight physical volumes have been released as of March 2024. Yen Press releases the light novel series in English.

The series was originally published as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou. Besides the TV anime adaptation, it has also inspired a 2018 manga adaptation by Rito Kohsaka, a 2023 live-action film, and a stage play. Square Enix Manga & Books licensed the manga for release in English print and digital format in 2021.

The My Happy Marriage TV anime series aired in Japan from July 5, 2023 to September 20, 2023 for a total of 12 episodes. An OVA episode, bundled with the release of the light novel’s eighth volume, was released on March 15, 2024. Netflix is streaming the anime series internationally.

A second season of the series was announced last September, shortly after the broadcast of the first season’s 12th episode.

Yen Press describes the synopsis of My Happy Marriage as:

Born talentless to a noble family famous for their supernatural abilities, Miyo Saimori is forced into an existence of servitude by her abusive stepmother. When Miyo finally comes of marriageable age, though, her hopes of being whisked away to a better life crumble after she discovers her fiancé’s identity: Kiyoka Kudou, a commander apparently so cold and cruel that his previous would-be brides all fled within three days of their engagements. With no home to return to, Miyo resigns herself to her fate—and soon finds that her pale and beautiful husband-to-be is anything but the monster she expected. As they slowly open their hearts to each other, both realize the other may be their chance at finding true love and happiness.
