Doctors say baby Tongtong Wang is a “twin” from a medical perspective.

According to social-media posts from the Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital, a woman identified only as Ms. Wang delivered a healthy baby boy on Tuesday, who, along with her older son, was conceived through IVF. The brothers were conceived as a batch of embryos in 2009 using the same sperm and eggs.
“From a medical perspective, Lulu and Tongtong are twin brothers,” Dr. Zheng Jie, a fertility specialist at the Hubei hospital, said in the post.
Wang, 41, had tried to make a family naturally for five years before turning to fertility treatments. One of the embryos was directly implanted into Wang, which resulted in her son, nicknamed Lulu, who was born in 2010. The rest of the cells were frozen.
The proud mama christened her newborn Tongtong, which translates to Same Same.
In video footage of Tongtong’s birth, the hospital staff can be heard saying, “We finally meet after 10 years,” the Beijing Times reported.
Both Lulu and Tongtong weighed in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces upon arrival. Wang, who delivered both boys through C-section, and her husband told the doctors they returned to the embryos after Lulu expressed his wish for a sibling.
