Netflix’s original programming has become its very own genre. A lot of their shows usually transcend the usual “streaming service” label. Rather, Netflix’s original series end up becoming a fandom of their own. Whether it be merchandise, T-shirts or games, most of the shows have gone beyond what anyone thought. One recent show that could follow a similar pattern is The Baby-Sitters Club.

By now, most of the world has either watched, or at least heard of, the series. Based on Ann M. Martin’s book series of the same name, the show has taken the world by storm. Whether it is due to fans of the original series or the younger generation, The Baby-Sitters Club has gained an entirely new audience. With the modern updates and small changes, it’s been appealing to almost anyone who has watched.

With such an impressive first season and a possible second on the way, The Baby-Sitters Club might go a similar route as Stranger Things. Both were major hits and could end up having similar merchandise.

One major manufacturer that could profit off the success is Funko. Funko is quick to capitalize on what’s popular and there’s no denying how popular The Baby-Sitters Club series is.

Funko would be smart to give The Baby-Sitters Club their own line this year

There is no way Funko hasn’t already considered giving The Baby-Sitters Club its own line and Funko would be dumb not to. As previously mentioned, the series is incredibly popular with a plethora of fans of all ages. Kids and adults alike would want to display The Baby-Sitters Club crew or possibly get one of just their favorite babysitter.

Additionally, while there are some shops on Etsy and the books available on Amazon, there isn’t really any Baby-Sitters Club merch out there. Funko could start a trend by creating some. If Funko made a line of Pop! Figures and they sold well, other companies would take notice. It would only be a matter of time before we’d all be able to get more merch featuring our favorite club.

The amount of Pop! Figures Funko could produce is astounding and it’d have a good headstart with the members of the club. For the first line, it could end up being Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, Stacey, and Dawn. Then Funko could branch out and make a line featuring Jessi and Mallory along with Kristy’s stepsister Karen. That’s just the tip of the iceberg as there are a ton of characters fans would want to collect.

While it’s unclear when or if Funko will produce a line of The Baby-Sitters Club Pop! Figures, it would be smart to get it done in 2020. The hype and love for the show are real. Funko would be losing a huge opportunity in waiting for someone else to make a move. The company hasn’t been shy before so making a line for The Baby-Sitters Club is a logical idea. No matter what they decide to do, Funko should definitely consider it.
