“Whispers of Dawn Now Coming in Summer 2023, Preview Clip Released”

The new release date for Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn will fall within the summer 2023 period, a new update has revealed. Additionally, a nearly seven-minute preview clip was released on YouTube.

Separately, Ryohgo Narita, the author of the Fate/strange Fake light novels, tweeted that the TV special’s contents will correspond to the first volume of the books.

Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn was originally meant to be shown during the Fate Project New Year’s Eve TV Special. The delay was announced on December 7.

The Kadokawa-published Fate/strange Fake light novel series, which is illustrated by Shizuki Morii, began in 2015 and has seven volumes as of March 2022. It is published under the Dengeki Bunko label and has inspired a manga adaptation by Morii. It is one of the many titles in the massive Fate multimedia franchise.

The Type-Moon wiki describes the premise as:

Fate/strange Fake takes place around 2009. The plot centers around a Grail War faultily copied from the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. After the end of the third Grail War, an organization from the United States that has magi separate from the London-based Mage Association as members took data from Fuyuki’s Grail War and planned their own ritual. After seventy years, they used the city Snowfield as the Sacred Land for their own Grail War. They were unable to successfully copy every aspect of the ritual, which led to it acting only as an imitation that has lost the Saber class and allowed for the summoning of strange Servants due to the definition of “hero” being blurred.

Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn is directed by Fate/Apocrypha action directors Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume. Yuukei Yamada (Fate/Apocrypha) as character designer, Daisuke Ohigashi (Fate/Grand Order Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot Paladin; Agateram setting production and production assistant) as scriptwriter, and Hiroyuki Sawano (Bubble, Attack on Titan) as music composer. A-1 Pictures is the animation production company.

Other staff include Yuusuke Takeda (Chainsaw Man, “Mr.” music video background artist) and Kentaro Ohnuki (“Mr.” music video background artist) as art directors, Youhei Miyawaki (Engage Kiss) as photography director, and Takahiro Mogi (Lonely Castle in the Mirror), Hiroki Takeda (SSSS.Dynazenon), and Nanako Okazaki (Engage Kiss) as color designers.
