#When Will Ayumu Make His Move? Receives Teaser Trailer and Main Cast Details

The upcoming When Will Ayumu Make His Move? has received a teaser trailer and main cast details. The show is set to premiere in July.

The main cast of the high school romantic comedy includes Youhei Azakami as the titular Ayumu Tanaka, Kanna Nakamura as Urushi Yaotome, Tsubasa Gouden as Takeru Kakuryuu, and Hina Youmiya as Sakurako Mikage. Azakami and Nakamura’s performances as Ayumu and Urushi are previewed in the teaser along with the characters’ dynamic and the shogi-related premise.

When Will Ayumu Make His Move? is an adaptation of the manga by Teasing Master Takagi-san’s Souichirou Yamamoto. The manga began in 2019 and has nine tankoubon volumes as of October 2021. It is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the Kodansha Comics label. 

Kodansha describes the manga as:

Yaotome’s the president of the shogi club at her high school, and she’s pretty sure that Ayumu, an underclassman and the only other member of the club, has a huge crush on her. They get together to play shogi every day after school, but no matter what she does, she can’t seem to get him to confess his feelings! What she doesn’t know is that Ayumu has made a pact with himself to reveal his love only after he’s beaten Yaotome at shogi for the first time. Yet there’s one big issue with this plan…he really sucks!

The anime’s staff includes Mirai Minato (The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!) as director, Deko Akao (The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt) is the series composer, and Kazuya Hirata (BOFURI, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!) is in charge of character design.
