“Vinland Saga Season 2 Announced for January 2023”
Vinland Saga Season 2 release date has been announced for January 2023. MAPPA is charge of the animation production. A new preview trailer and key visual was also released. The key staff behind season 1 are reprising their roles for the upcoming second season.
New cast members were announced as well, with Yuu Hayashi as Olmar, Taiten Kusunoki as Thorgil, Hideaki Tezuka as Ketil, and Mugihito as Sverkel.
The returning key staff includes Shuhei Yabuta as director, Koji Seko as series composer, Abiru Takahiro as character designer, Yusuke Takeda as art director, Yuki Kawashita as photography director, Satoshi Hashimoto as color designer, and Yutaka Yamada as music composer.
Season 1 art board artists Kentaro Ohnuki and Izumi Hirayabashi are serving as co-art directors with Takeda for the new season, while Minori Nishita is serving as color designer with Hashimoto. Kouhei Ogawa (Healer Girl 3D director) is taking over the 3DCG director role from Mayu Takehana.
The first season of Vinland Saga, which aired in 2019, won the Anime of the Year Award at the 6th Anime Trending Awards in 2019. WIT Studio was in charge of the animation production.
The original manga series is written by Makoto Yukimura and is currently published in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine in Japan. Kodansha USA is publishing the manga series in English for North America. The manga began in 2005 and has 26 tankoubon volumes as of May 2022.
