The Cambodian hip hop superstar took to Facebook to share some thoughts about the importance of “choosing the right partner” based on his real-life experience.

Writing in Khmer, VannDa said that he “used to have a strong woman beside me,” they weren’t able to be together “forever” and ended up finding their own, separate goals “with the same smile.”

He went on, “Based on this experience, it is clear that choosing the right partner and understanding one’s work is very important in (daily routine) in any situation; it is a good experience, [learning] new lessons and bright[ening] the way for the future.”

Cautioning about making the wrong choice, he emphasized that “If you choose the wrong partner and don’t understand your current situation, your life will be filled with stress, job problems, love problems—it will make you blind and you will fall back into the same situation you never wish for the second time.”

Finally, he counseled, “Please check your heart’s health before deciding on your next love,” and added, “Think about to-do lists but don’t forget to think about ‘to-be’ lists.”

The “Time To Rise” hitmaker has rarely spoken about romantic relationships, only occasionally sharing snippets of his private life on social media—most recently posting photos from a much-earned break with his family over the holidays. He also recently wiped his Instagram with all but two posts.
