#Utah lawyer sorry for telling pol to ‘die and go to hell’ in email

A top Utah prosecutor apologized for telling a local lawmaker to “die and go to hell” after the candidate interrupted the lawyer’s afternoon nap with his “wife and downstairs tenant.”

Assistant Attorney General Steven Wuthrich’s diatribe was sent in a profanity-laced email that Salt Lake City Councilman Darin Mano shared on Facebook Monday.

“I have a no soliciting sign on my door for a reason. On a nice Saturday afternoon myself and my wife and my downstairs tenant were all taking a lovely siesta when some motherf—ing ignorant son-of-b—h rang our doorbell and put your piece of s–t unwanted solicitation in our door waking the dogs and waking us and the neighbors with an uproar,” the screenshot of Wuthrich’s email said

“I will do everything in my power to see you never get elected to any office higher than dog catcher. I hate you I hate your family I hate your solicitors I hate your contributors I hate your sponsors,” Wuthrich wrote.

“Kindly die and go to hell motherf—-r!!!!,” the note concluded.

Mano, who is Asian-American and gay wrote, “I must stand up against hate speech and call it out when I see it.”

“Though the email I received did not mention my race or sexuality, it did feel personal,” Mano wrote.

The state attorney initially declined a request for comment from the Salt Lake Tribune, but issued a statement after they published the story, the report said.

“Last Saturday, I was awakened from a nap and reacted with undue anger based solely on the interruption to my tranquility,” Wuthrich wrote, according to the paper.

“Since then, I have regretted the ferocity and language of that email. My words were uncivil and unprofessional. From me personally, I apologize to Salt Lake City Councilman Darin Mano and his family.”

“No parent, spouse or child should be subjected to such emotional outbursts,” the assistant attorney general reportedly wrote. “I am deeply sorry.”

Mano was selected to fill a vacant seat in the city council last year. He’s running to be the first Asian-American elected lawmaker in Salt Lake City, according to the newspaper.
