Fans of tokusatsu and digital pets will soon experience a blast from the past, because the Kamen Rider series is celebrating its 50th anniversary by teaming up with Bandai’s Tamagotchi line of digital pet toys (which is celebrating its 25th anniversary) with a pair of toys that allow players to raise their own Kamen Riders.
The toys come in “Genesis Green” and “Legacy Gold” varieties and include a pair of mini-games (“Rider Kick” and “Challenge Ride”) that allow players to train their young Riders in how to properly beat up baddies and ride their motorcycles. A total of 40 different Kamen Riders from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras can be raised, including 7 secret Riders.
The Kamen Rider Tamagotchi digital pet toys are currently available for pre-order until August 17, 2021 on the Premium Bandai website, with the final product scheduled to begin shipping in December of 2021. The toys retail for 2530 yen (about $22.95 US) including tax but not including shipping and handling.
