“Mafumafu’s Play It Cool, Guys Theme Song Gets Animated Music Video”

Mafumafu‘s”Seishun Kippu” song, which serves as the opening theme for the Fall 2022 anime Play It Cool, Guys, has received an animated music video.

Illustrator and animator Tsuda directed the music video and served as storyboarder, character designer, and animation director as well. Tsuda is also one of the animators.

A visual was released by studio matomo, of which Tsuda and two of the video’s animators are affiliated with.

Play It Cool, Guys premiered on October 10 (effectively October 11 at 1:30 AM JST) in Japan and is streamed on Crunchyroll. It is based on the Square Enix-published manga by Kokone Nata.

The anime’s main staff includes Chiaki Kon (Sailor Moon Eternal) as director, Makoto Uezu (Rumble Garanndoll) as series composer, Eri Taguchi (Vampire in the Garden co-main animator) as character designer and chief animation director, and Masato Nakayama (22/7) as music composer. Studio Pierrot is the animation production company. 

Meanwhile, the cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Hayate Ichikura, Kouki Uchiyama as Shun Futami, Yuuichirou Umehara as Takayuki Mima, and Shouya Chiba as Soma Shiki.

The Play It Cool, Guys manga began in 2019 and released its fifth tankoubon volumes on October 21, 2022. It is serialized on Gangan Pixiv and published under the Gangan Comics Pixiv label. The manga was originally a Twitter-posted comic.
