#Twins vs. Brewers prediction: Kenta Maeda makes Minnesota the pick

August 12, 2020 | 1:01pm

The Milwaukee Brewers have gotten off to a tough start to 2020 and have to turn to Eric Lauer on Wednesday to face a Minnesota Twins lineup that ranks in the top seven in MLB in home runs per game.

The Twins set a record for most home runs in 2019 and now get to tee off on Lauer, who is giving up 1.6 home runs per nine innings over his past 11 appearances and has a 9.53 ERA this season.

Minnesota starter Kenta Maeda has gone at least five innings in all three of his 2020 starts and has done a good job of preventing base runners. In 17 innings, he has given up just eight hits and three walks to go with a 2.65 ERA.

That bodes well considering the Brewers entered Tuesday ranked 22nd in MLB in team batting average and runs per game.

With the Twins allowing four runs or fewer in 13 of their past 15 games entering Tuesday and the Brewers scoring four or fewer in seven of their past nine, the Twins should have the firepower at both the plate and on the mound to get the road victory.

The Play: Twins, -140
