Tsuburaya Productions announced yesterday that they had to cancel their upcoming TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns. Alongside this, the official Twitter account for the upcoming Shin Ultraman film, from the team behind Shin Godzilla, announced that more information on the film was set to be released during the event but will now be released another way.

TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2021 is a bi-annual event held every two years to bring fans closer to the production company and inform them of the future of the company’s franchises, including the popular Ultraman series. In a post on the production company’s website, they are considering holding an online event in place of the now-canceled Fall event, though nothing is confirmed at this stage.

The next big release from Tsuburaya Productions is the upcoming Shin Ultraman film, which brings director Shinji Higuchi, writer and producer Hideaki Anno, and composter Shiro Sagisu together again after their work on Shin Godzilla. The film was set to be released in Summer 2021 but was also delayed by COVID-19 affecting the production schedule.
