#TRIGGER Reveals Gurren Lagann The Movie 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray for Summer 2024
During its Sakura-Con 2024 industry panel, TRIGGER gave its diehard fans a first look at the cover design for its upcoming release of the Gurren Lagann The Movie 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc set, which is scheduled to be released in Summer 2024. More details about the Blu-ray will be announced very soon.
The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release celebrates the 15th anniversary of the TV anime series, which aired in 2007. It compiles the two anime films Gurren Lagann The Movie: Childhood’s End and Gurren Lagann The Movie: The Lights in the Sky, which were screened again in Japanese theaters in August and September last year. Both films were also released in subbed and dubbed in North America in January 2024.
Childhood’s End and The Lights in the Sky are Stars were originally released in 2008 and 2009, respectively. They serve as compilation films of the TV anime series.
Gainax produced the anime with Hiroyuki Imaishi as director, Kazuki Nakashima as series composer, and Atsushi Nishigori as character designer.
Crunchyroll is streaming Gurren Lagann, describing the main story as:
This is the story of a man who has yet to realize what destiny holds in store for him…In the distant future, mankind has lived quietly and restlessly underground for hundreds of years, subject to earthquakes and cave-ins. Living in one such village are 2 young men: one named Simon who is shy and naïve, and the other named Kamina who believes in the existence of a “surface” world above their heads.
