#Tom Brady had an eventful, ‘inefficient’ night in loss to Rams

Tom Brady had a bit of an interesting night as his Buccaneers took on the Los Angeles Rams on “Monday Night Football,” which culminated in a 27-24 loss for Tampa Bay.

The 43-year-old completed just 54.2 percent of his pass attempts for 216 yards in the loss. He threw two interceptions, his third game of the season with multiple picks, one of them coming in a crucial moment with under two minutes left in the game.

With the Bucs down three, Brady attempted to march his team down the field, as he has done in countless late-game moments in his career. But he sailed a pass intended for tight end Cameron Brate, and Rams defender Jordan Fuller intercepted it to clinch the victory.

“I have to do a better job, absolutely,” Brady told The Athletic. “Tonight was very inefficient, didn’t [do] a very good job during the second half. The defense played great, kept coming up with huge stops, getting us the ball back. Offensively, we just couldn’t make the plays that were necessary to be efficient, and we had plenty of chances. We’ve got to get them fixed.”

His night might have looked worse if not for a comically familiar situation that occurred in the second half. Pinned back in his own end zone, Brady was hit as he tried to throw, and appeared to fumble the ball.

But the refs ruled that his arm was moving forward and the pass was incomplete, which was upheld on a Los Angeles challenge.

You know, like the infamous “tuck rule” game in the 2001 playoffs, where Brady appeared to fumble against the Oakland Raiders. That infamous play also resulted in an incomplete pass, and was the main reason the New England Patriots advanced.

Brady also had another odd play in the second half. One of his passes was batted at the line of scrimmage, and the ball flew right back to him. Instead of running with it, he threw it a second time, which is a penalty. This time, the officials did not rule in his favor.
