#Tom Brady discusses challenges he’s facing with Buccaneers

New England Patriots legend Tom Brady is slowly navigating his way through the obstacles that come with joining a new team.

“It’s been different having the opportunity with this time to move and for example study my playbook,” Brady said during a Zoom call with reporters on Thursday. “I mean, I really haven’t had to do that in 19 years. You forget, ‘Man, that is really tough.’ Like all the different terminologies and you’re going back a very long time in my career to really put the mental energy in like I did.”

The 43-year-old quarterback — who signed a two-year, $50 million contract this offseason — is making the move, after spending 20 years in New England, along with trusty tight end Rob Gronkowski. A week after Brady’s departure, Gronkowski followed his former Patriots teammate to Tampa Bay, as the New England traded him to the Bucs for a fourth-round draft pick.

While the dynamic Brady-Gronkowski duo may be together again, Brady faces the intense mental challenge that comes with preparing to play for a new team for the first time. His other teammates are also getting accustomed to him. Brady is scheduled to make his Buccaneers debut against the Falcons on Sept. 13.

“I am glad we’re not playing a game this Sunday,” Brady said. “I am glad that we have time to prepare. It’s been a good week or so being in here and I think every day I am trying to take advantage of the opportunity to improve myself so that I can be the best quarterback for this team that this team really deserves. These guys are working really hard and I want to come in here and do a great job for them.”
