#Tish Cyrus BLASTS Ex Billy Ray’s Claim Hannah Montana ‘Destroyed’ Their Family

In 2011, Billy Ray Cyrus infamously blamed Hannah Montana for wrecking his marriage, telling GQ it “destroyed my family.” Well, his former better half is here to tell y’all, that ain’t the case!

As part of her wide-ranging interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast this week, Tish Cyrus finally responded to that assertion. So did Miley Cyrus‘ children’s sitcom destroy anything? She responded:

“Absolutely not. I just think he was having a moment.”

Ha! One could certainly make the case Hannah Montana gave Billy Ray the ammunition he needed to destroy the fam. After all, years later it was revealed he first met his now-fiancée Firerose when she was just a young aspiring singer-actress working on the Disney Channel show. Gross.

But Brandi Cyrus takes issue with the notion their family even is “destroyed”! She told host Alex Cooper:

“The family’s not destroyed, first of all. We’re doing great.”

It’s a good point. Billy Ray may be out of the picture, but the family he helped create is still very much intact.

But what did the country star even mean by saying it? He wasn’t talking about the Firerose thing back then! LOLz! Tish recalled:

“I brought Miley out to audition for Hannah and she had gotten it and then one of the casting directors said a joke, like, ‘Too bad we can’t afford her real dad!’ And I said, ‘Oh, maybe you can.’”

Billy Ray wasn’t exactly the hot commodity he’d been in the ’90s. Tish explained:

“He had done ‘Achy Breaky’ and nothing else was working.”

So she encouraged her hubby to audition!

“They love you and they’re really interested. Yes, it would be a pay cut but our family could be together.”

So he and Miley were a package deal. Stunt casting, if you will. And we have Tish to thank for it? Hmm. In any case, it worked! The show was a big hit! And unlike previous gigs, the whole family got to stay together in LA! So as far as she’s concerned, it sounds like the show was actually good for the fam! It’s still just Billy Ray’s fickle pickle is what we’re hearing. Maybe we’re reading between the lines?

But hey, she did say she experienced “disrespect in every form” during her marriage. That’s definitely one of the big forms! Thankfully her new hubby Dominic Purcell has only shown respect for her work managing her kids’ careers without much help from Billy Ray:

“He made me realize what I did is badass… It was not easy, having kids that small out, but I just made it work and I took the kids. But it was a sacrifice for everyone.”

Sure, it was a sacrifice. But you could say that about pretty much every parent with a career. Blaming a marriage falling apart on that seems like something one would only do if they’d rather ignore their own failings. Just sayin’!
