#’The Haunting of Bly Manor’: 14 Times Flora & Miles Weren’t Themselves

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Season 1 of The Haunting of Bly Manor.]

The Haunting of Bly Manor has finally debuted on Netflix giving fans plenty of clues and mysteries to unpack.

At the center of the story are two orphaned children — Flora (Amelie Bea Smith) and Miles (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) — who nanny Dani (Victoria Pedretti) is charged with caring for at Bly Manor, a sprawling English countryside estate. But something isn’t right about these children who act out and behave in bizarre ways.

The strangest part of their odd behavior is that they seem to forget the things they’ve done or can’t remember their actions, which makes it hard for them to understand when Dani punishes them for wrongdoing. As the series carries on, this mystery is slowly undone as we learn the reason for their antics.

Apart from trying to keep their loved ones safe from Bly’s Lady of the Lake, the children are also acting weird because they’re being possessed by star-crossed lovers and former employees Rebecca Jessel (Tahirah Sharif) and Peter Quint (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). Unable to keep from fading away, the ghostly beings attempt to hijack Flora and Miles’ bodies in order to remain partly alive, which would explain some of Flora and Miles’ seriously strange outbursts and spells.
