A television anime adaptation of Broccoli Lion and Sime’s The Great Cleric light novel series is in production. Further details about the animation studio, production staff, and voice cast will be announced at a later date. 

Light novel artist Sime released a new illustration featuring the series’ characters to commemorate news of the anime production. 

The Great Cleric began as a web novel launched by Broccoli Lion on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from October 17, 2015 to February 28, 2022. It was then formally published as a light novel series by Micro Magazine on August 30, 2016. 10 physical volumes have been released as of January 2022. 

The series has also inspired a manga adaptation by Hiiro Akikaze, which first launched in Kodansha’s Niconico-based Suiyoubi no Sirius manga service on June 1, 2017. 10 tankoubon volumes have been released as of October 2022. Vertical licensed the manga in English for North America. 

J-Novel Club releases The Great Cleric light novels in English and describes the story as: 

One moment, a certain salaryman is on cloud nine, that promotion finally within his grasp, and the next, he’s keeled over pain, and that was all she wrote. Luckily for him, fate had a bit more to say. A world of magic, monsters, and other such life-shortening entities await his newly reincarnated self for a second shot at life. With nothing but his past-life experiences and sharp business skills to guide him in the foreign lands of Galdardia, he takes up the name Luciel and vows that his (next) demise will be from naught but old age.
