“The Final Season Coming in 2023”
The Ultraman 3DCG anime series is set to continue with Ultraman: The Final Season in 2023. Netflix teased the sequel to the recently released Ultraman Season 2 with a poster and brief trailer.
Both the poster and trailer depict a fallen Ultraman lying on the ground, with the latter also having a voice commanding the hero to stand up. The trailer ends with the line, “This is another answer for Ultraman.”
Ultraman Season 2 was released on April 14, while the first Ultraman season, was released in 2019. Netflix describes Season 2‘s plot as:
The series centers on the son of Ultraman, Shinjiro Hayata, and the six heroes (ULTRAMAN, SEVEN, ACE, ZOFFY, JACK, TARO) who carry on the tradition of the legendary 6 Ultra Brothers. Together, they face the schemes of aliens on a cosmic scale.
Kotaro Higashi, a young photographer, encounters a mysterious missing persons case. He takes a photo proving that it was the work of aliens and brings it to the SSSP with his girlfriend Izumi. However, a certain incident transforms him into a superhuman with incredible fiery superpowers.
Then, a massive cosmic weapon appears before the human-sized Ultraman…
The anime is based on the Heroes-published manga series written by Eiichi Shimizu and drawn by Tomohiro Shimoguchi, which began in 2011 and has 18 tankoubon volumes as of April 2022. It is currently serialized on Comiplex and published under the Hero Comics label.
The staff of Ultraman Season 2 includes Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki as directors, Hiroki Uchiyama joining as series director. and Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi as music composers. Production I.G and SOLA DIGITAL ARTS co-produced the show.
