#’The Crown’ struggling to find actor to play Prince Andrew

#’The Crown’ struggling to find actor to play Prince Andrew

Producers of “The Crown” are having a hard time finding someone to play Prince Andrew — the scandal-scarred royal sidelined over his ties to dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, according to a report.

Left Bank Pictures has posted an advertisement on casting website Spotlight for what the production company insists is a “very good role,” according to the Sun.

The Duke of York will be portrayed in his mid-30s to early 40s on Season 5 of Netflix’s hit historical drama, which is reportedly set to start filming in July.

“Prince Andrew is one of the most unpopular members of the royal family and wannabe stars aren’t exactly queuing up to play him,” a casting source told the outlet.

“It’s not the sexiest role and is unlikely to set a Hollywood career alight,” the source said. “However, it might work for a real scene-stealer character artist.”

The production team denied that they were having trouble finding an actor to play the controversial prince on the next season.

“There is absolutely no struggle to cast any role for season 5 of ‘The Crown’ and it is normal practice for productions to advertise in Spotlight,” a spokeswoman for the show told the Sun.

Andrew, now 61, became wrapped up in the Epstein scandal after one of the financier’s victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, claimed she was forced to sleep with the royal when she was 17.

The duke resigned from his royal duties in November 2019 following a train-wreck BBC interview about his relationship with the convicted sex offender. He has denied the allegations.

Tom Byrne, 26, portrayed Andrew in his 20s during Season 4 of “The Crown,” but upcoming episodes will feature an entirely new cast as the series jumps in time.
