“Teasing Master Takagi-san Movie Releases Full Trailer”

The upcoming Teasing Master Takagi-san movie (Eigaban Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san) has released a full-length trailer, which previews the theme song “Hajimari no Natsu” by Yuiko Oohara alongside various scenes of Nishikata and Takagi. 

Aside from scenes of Takagi (Rie Takahashi) teasing Nishikata (Yuuki Kaji), the trailer provides a look at the film’s main premise, which sees the two teenagers trying to return a lost kitten (which they name Hana) to its owner. The movie takes place during Nishikata and Takagi’s last summer of middle school.

The Teasing Master Takagi-san movie is set to premiere in Japan on June 10. The movie’s staff includes returning names from the previous three seasons like Akagi Hiroaki as director, Aya Takano as character designer, Fuyu Makino as photography director, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi as music composer. Shin-Ei Animation is again the animation production company. 

Teasing Master Takagi-san 2 and 3 scriptwriters Hiroko FukudaAki Itami, and Kanichi Katou are the film’s scriptwriters, with Fukuda also handling the movie’s story composition. Other staff include Yuki Kasahara (Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3) as art director and Mika Yokoi (DoraemonNobita’s Chronicle of the Moon Exploration color coordinator) as color designer.

Teasing Master Takagi-san‘s three seasons premiered in 2018, 2019, and 2022 respectively. The series is based on the manga by Souichirou Yamamoto, which began in 2013 and has 17 tankoubon volumes as of January 2022.

Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

“I swear I’m going to tease and embarrass Takagi-san today!” Nishikata, a middle-schooler, keeps getting teased by the girl who sits next to him in class, Takagi-san. He tries every day to get back at her, but will he ever succeed? Takagi-san and Nishikata’s youthful teasing battle starts now!

The manga was first serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday Mini before moving to Gessan Shonen Sunday in 2016. It is published under the Gessan Shonen Sunday Comics label. Yen Press publishes the manga in English. 

The manga has inspired a spin-off about a married Takagi and Nishikata and their daughter titled Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san (Teasing Master [Former] Takagi-san) which began in 2017. Another manga spin-off titled Koi ni Koisuru Yukari-chan (Lover of Love Yukari-chan) ran from 2017 to 2020.
