#: Rudy Giuliani suspended from practicing law in Washington, D.C

Rudy Giuliani has been suspended from practicing law in Washington, D.C., following a similar suspension in the state of New York.

An appeals court filing released Wednesday said Giuliani, who was most recently the personal attorney for Donald Trump, is suspended pending “disciplinary proceedings” in New York. Giuliani’s license to practice law in New York was suspended in June, citing “demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts” while working with Trump to overturn 2020 election results.

“Respondent’s conduct immediately threatens the public interest and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law,” New York’s Attorney Grievance Committee argued in a motion last month.

CNBC reported Wednesday that Giuliani had been an inactive member of the District of Columbia bar in good standing. Giuliani, a former U.S. attorney, had not practiced law in court for years before representing Trump in 2020.
